Editing

The short film is fully shot in the front of the police car, which makes editing the most crucial micro-element. The duration of the cuts add to the understanding of the film, and emphasise the atmosphere and  different emotions of the characters throughout. Because the setting of the scene never changes, editing allows the audience to grasp the character's relationship changing overtime) we understand that this is over time rather than one day), and emotional shifts. There is no external activity around the set - just what we see taking place in the police car, which makes editing even more important in adding depth to the narrative.

Sound

Sound is used effectively to construct meaning in the short film - adding atmosphere and realism. For example the diegetic sound is used  -  the police car door opening and closing and the subtle sound of the car moving. This adds to the naturalism of the film, but also enables the audience to understand how repetitive it must feel for the police driving around. The quietness/silence in moments of when it is just the two police in the car feels a lot more intense, because of the use of dialogue when there is someone arrested in the backseat.
